Russian President Vladimir Putin has called for a stop to the ultimatums posed to his country at a speech held at the International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg Friday.

In his words, the US is attempting to set the idea of what Russia needs and is interfering into domestic political processes in the country, as well as in international security issues.

“Let us define our own interests and our own needs based on our own history and our own culture,'' Putin said as quoted by Sputnik news. ''It’s unacceptable to speak with Russia using the language of ultimatums.”

He reminded the discussion prior to the decision for deployment of international troops in Iraq. In his words, the model largely used by the US is ''whoever is not with us, is against us''.

''This is not a dialogue, this is an ultimatum,'' Putin said, as quoted by TASS.

In his words, it is exactly the actions of the US that will lead to a next Cold War, especially after it's move to exit the Contract on Anti-missile Defense.

"Moscow would like to have equitable relations with all members of the international community - the US, the EU, the Asian countries - and we’ll build relations with them on the basis of equality and mutual respect," Putin said.
