The announcements made at Sofia subway stations will now sound in English too.

Since Sunday subway passengers will hear information on trains, and stations in both Bulgarian and English at all locations, as stated by Metropoliten's press office.

The change has been implemented in order to facilitate the transportation of the expected increased number of foreign passengers. In this way, tourists will be better able to travel using the subway, with less confusion.

It is expected that the subway line leading to the airport will be launched in the bginning of April. As a result, four new stations will become operational, starting from Tsarigradsko Shouse and finishing at the Sofia Airport.

According to a Saturday announcement, European Commission's President Jean Claude Juncker will also be present at the official opening.

Additionally, the subway will be moving at shorter time intervals on account of the increased number of passengers.

It is also expected that the extension of the subway line leading to the Mladost 4 neighborhood will be completed by the end of April.

Sofia Mayor yordanka Fandakova stated that in 2015 the third subway line will be launched, connecting Ovcha kupel and Botevgrad Blvd. The length of the section will be a little over 16 kilometers long and will have 19 stations along the way.

Additionally, the extension of the second subway line to Srebarna street will be completed in 2016.
