Bulgaria’s Tarnovo Constitution, adopted by the Grand National Assembly on April 16, 1879, will be shown for the first time in an exhibition at the President’s Office on Dondukov Street 2 in Sofia.

The exhibit, which is part of the fund of the Central State Archive, will be shown during an exhibition that will be open to visitors from 10 am to 4 pm on March 2 at the Coat of Arms Hall of the President’s Office.

On the eve of Bulgaria’s National Holiday, March 3, when Bulgaria celebrates its liberation from the Ottoman Rule, the exhibition at the President’s Office will show precious items from the time of the Russo-Turkish War of 1877–78 and the first years of existence of the modern Bulgarian state.

Exhibits include personal belongings and military clothing of Alexander I of Battenberg, authentic weapons, state and military decorations, and medals of participants in the Russo-Turkish War of 1877-1878, known in Bulgaria as the Liberation War.

The exhibition at the President’s Office also includes a rich collection of documents tracing the history of the Bulgarian state after the Ottoman rule.

The exhibition is organized by the presidential administration in cooperation with the National Museum of Military History, the Archives State Agency, and the St. St. Cyril and Methodius National Library.
