European Parliament Passes Law to Restrict Cash Payments to €10,000
The European Parliament has voted to impose a €10,000 limit on cash payments within the European Union
The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini called for a restart in the relationship between the West and Russia.
In an interview for Austrian daily Kurier, Mogherini explained that Russia has a close relationship with the European Union (EU) and is very important in terms of the common European geography, history, culture, economy and energy policy.
Because of the above reasons, the High Representative stated that a restart in the relationship was needed.
Mogherini pointed out that Russia is a strategic country, but not a strategic partner at the moment.
Therefore, it will be of mutual benefit if the strategic partnership with Russia was reestablished.
According to the chief EU diplomat, the behaviour of Russia in the Ukrainian crisis was not that pertaining to a partner.
Mogherini expressed her opinion that Russia bears responsibility for security in the Eastern Ukraine.
The High Representative urged Russia not to view NATO with hostility and at the same time called the Alliance to treat Russia as a possible partner.
Mogherini concluded by saying that a return to the times of the Cold War was unthinkable.
