Bulgarian Red Cross expects a refugee wave, and is properly preparing to face it, Hristo Grigorov, head of the organization said, Friday, Darik news reports.

He explained that currently the refugee situation in the country is under control.

Bulgaria's Red Cross (BRC) is concerned that in the last two months between 160 000 and 200 000 people entered Turkey. That is a big burden for the country, said Hristo Grigorov. According to him, if the situation in Turkey is not under control, this means that many refugees will want to pass through Bulgaria on their way to other European countries. The BRC is currently in a state of disaster preparedness.

Regarding the emergency aid operations Hristo Grigorov noted that for the first time the corporate business and the retail chains have been extremely active in providing assistance in all Bulgarian regions. Grigorov was adamant that the Red Cross humanitarian aid is distributed under strict control and any misuse is out of the question.
