Bulgaria: BSP Returns Cabinet-Forming Mandate, Elections Day Fixed for July 11
Bulgarian nationalist party Ataka (Attack), led by Volen Siderov, has published an election program consisting of a 20-point list of priorities.
Ataka insists that Bulgaria is a one-nation monolithic state which must not be subject to principles of division such as religion, ethnicity, and culture.
Ataka underscores that the official language in Bulgaria is Bulgarian and national media outlets relying on public funding cannot broadcast programs in other languages.
Ataka seeks a ban on ethnic parties and separatist organizations, as well as clearly defined penalties for breaches of the rule.
“The health, social security, education, spiritual and material prosperity of the Bulgarian nation are the top priority for the public authorities and these issues are more important than the accession to political, military or other international entities,” the party states.
“The Bulgarian state is bound to do al in its power to guarantee the health, social security and preconditions for spiritual and material prosperity of all Bulgarians,” Ataka declares.
“Each and every Bulgarian investor, entrepreneur and producer enjoys preferential treatment compared to their foreign counterparts until the domestic standard of living becomes equal to the EU average,” Ataka argues, adding that “Bulgarian production, commerce and banks must be in Bulgarian hands.”
“Taxes and incomes in Bulgaria must comply with the financial possibilities and needs of the Bulgarian population and not the requirements of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank,” Ataka states.
The nationalist party insists that privatization deals are subject to revision.
The party backs measures aimed at cutting red tape and a program for overcoming the demographic collapse.
Ataka demands the immediate withdrawal of Bulgarian troops from Iraq.
The party claims that Bulgaria has to leave NATO and refrain from participation in military entities, adopt a fully neutral stance, and ban the establishment of foreign military bases on its territory.
Ataka also calls for referendums on important issues which concern over 10% of the population.
“Foreign nationals cannot buy Bulgarian agricultural land under any circumstances,” Ataka adds.
The nationalist party calls for fixing a minimum price of labor into Bulgarian legislation, stressing that the hourly wage has to match the average EU level.
Ataka demands the revision of closed chapters in Bulgaria’s talks with the EU and a renegotiation of damaging provisions, as well as the cancelation of the agreement on the closure of units of the Kozloduy NPP.
The nationalist party calls for terminating Bulgaria’s dependence on the IMF and the World Bank.
Ataka seeks sweeping investigations for cases of illicit enrichment, the confiscation of illegal assets, and the use of the seized property for the establishment of a fund for free-of-charge medical service.
The party also calls for a legal definition of the concept of national treason, stressing that “national traitors” must be brought before court.
