Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has claimed his Russian counterpart told him his troops could reach NATO states "within two days", media reports suggest.

The reports is part of a summary of a conversation between Poroshenko and outgoing EU Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso obtained by German daily S?ddeutsche Zeitung.

Ukraine's head of state made his comments while Barroso was on a visit to Kiev.

"If I wanted, within two days Russian troops could be not only in Kiev, but also in Riga, Vilnius, Tallinn, Warsaw or Burcharest," Vladimir Putin Putin reportedly warned, according to Poroshenko.

Earlier this summer a leaked transcript of a conversation purported to quote Putin as claiming he "could take over Kiev within two days" if he wished to do so.
