Bulgaria, Romania, US to Hold Military Drill in Black Sea
Joint naval exercises with Bulgarian, Romanian and US vessels are to take place in the Black Sea on March 11.
The naval forces of all three nations have stated no connection between the upcoming drill and the tensions on Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula, where the Russian Black Sea Fleet is based, the Bulgarian National Radio has reported.
Vessels participating in the event include a Bulgarian frigate, three Romanian ships and US destroyer USS Truxtun.
The US military described the joint military maneuvers as a "routine" deployment scheduled last year, long before the standoff in Ukraine.
Crimea, however, is some 500 km to the north-east of the location where the drill is to be carried out.
According to a statement by the US Navy, the Truxtun left Greece on Thursday after it was granted passage through the Black Sea Straits by Turkey, which controls their traffic.
The USS Truxtun will be at the Bulgarian city of Varna's port from March 12 to March 14.
More military exercises are set to be held in Eastern Europe, as Poland also envisages joint maneuvers with the US near the Ukrainian border.

Moscow held Bulgaria hostage for 50 years. As an American of Bulgarian descent, I was amazed, when I visited Bulgaria, of the naivete of Bulgarians when it comes to political freedoms. It's not just the Bulgarians though; it's many people who have grown up under repressive regimes. Along with democracy and freedom of speech, go responsibilities such as truth and justice. I often hear repressive societies speak of these ideas in isolation or various combinations; however, in the United States, these ideas are woven into the fabric of the society (granted there are all sorts of different points of view within that society). I was recently at a Russian supermarket here in the US and I pointed out that the Russians did not show the Olympic ring gaff on Russian television; a Russian guy commented that it was for the benefit of the people to see it the way it was suppose to be performed. My response was that the problem with that is that it was the same thing they did with Chernobyl. Later, I reflected that the comment may have been a bit harsh; but then the lies started again with Crimea. My conclusion was that, in terms of the outlook of the two societies, the Russians prefer security to freedom. In the US, the society prefers freedom to security. Freedom is more important than the United States and that is reflected in one state's motto of "Live free or die". It's not o much about the glory of the nation or the nationality. Are Bulgarians yet willing to die for freedom, more so than for their nationality? Wake up, Russia is not your friend. Smell the liar!
"Slush-fund"? Not bad....:-)....Seedy, Your "normal logic" is sweet salt, dry water, Endless Abuss...but Your texts prove that You will reach the EA terminus for sure. On the right: Seedy, the person who works wonders.
No you won't, Slush-fund - you'll either keep very quiet (as you usually do when you find something that doesn't fit in with your pathetic and incoherent pro-Soviet propaganda) or you'll produce some laughable (and incoherent) "justification" and attempt to twist it into something which defies normal logic (look it up).....
For America yes, for Romania and Bulgaria no. There's no way in hell they would involve themselves militarily against Russia. In Bulgaria it would cause a revolution. For Romania and Bulgaria it's just an opportunity for their armed forces to improve since their standard of equipment n training is very bad.
USA is alone in this nonsense n they don't have the balls to start ww3.
But I'm sure some russian paper will start raving n make all kinds of retarded accusations against Bulgaria.
