Bulgaria Slams Ukraine For Canceling the Status of Bulgarian Language
The Bulgarian government is dissatisfied with Ukraine's decision to cancel the recognition of Bulgarian language as regional language.
Earlier this week Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada canceled the State Language Policy Act, which was granting the status of “regional language” to the language of minority groups who make up more than 10% of the residents in an area.
Compact Bulgarian communities live in some areas of the Bessarabia region in southern Ukraine, mostly in Artsiz, Izmail and Bolgrad. There Bulgarian was granted the status of a regional language.
Another regional language in some parts of Ukraine was Russian.
Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin raised the language issue with Ukraine's ambassador in Sofia and at the meeting in Budapest of the Foreign Ministers of the Visegrad Group - Bulgaria, Romania and Greece.
“The current political leaders in Ukraine must demonstrate responsibility and strive for inclusion of all groups in the Ukrainian society with respect for human rights and the rule of law”, said Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry in a statement on its website.

To an american, yes I did the maths and under the security council rules the resolution failed.
You can't count to 1 what kind of rubbish education system do you have in the US?
I guess you didn't get the answer you want you want to change the rules or install your own people there.
" the UN Security Council that is the highest court in the world"
Wow, the UN Security Council is...a COURT...and even "the highest court in the world"?!
It takes a genius in international law like you to "know" such things. Things that before you nobody in the whole world history ever knew!
Behemoth the UN resolution against recognising the result of the Crimean referendum did not get through the UN Security Council that is the highest court in the world so there are no legal barriers to the referendum.
I know you had concerns about the legality of the referendum but you can now relax as it is legal.
When you point with one finger to other countries, Bulgaria, four fingers are pointing back to you.
That Bulgarian politicians have the guts (or mental vacuum) to ask other countries to grant Bulgarian language the status of a regional language is beyond my imagination.
Bulgaria has regions where more than 50% of the inhabitants speak Turkish as native language. But there is almost a civil war about a 3-minute emission in some radio station in Turkish language. What gives Bulgarian politicians the right to demand from other countries what they would never ever grant any minority in Bulgaria? Is this racism? Populism? Or just another proof for the fact that Bulgarian politicians are the most demented part of the Bulgarian population?
So, better shut up for the next 100 years, and don't you ever mention "minority rights" and "recognition as a regional language" ever again, Bulgarian politicians. People and countries like you shouldn't be taken seriously. By nobody on this planet. You are just the laughing stock of the rest of the nations. Pathetic, obnoxious, idiotic.
The new leaders in the Ukraine are setting out to alienate people, this move is just one example.
Bulgars rule in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Police and Army will protect the state.
Just look at how the Police sucessfully protected the state from the demonstrators.
