Bulgarian MPs Once Again to Propose Lifting Full Smoking Ban
Several Bulgarian MPs of the ruling majority will put forward new amendments to the Healthcare Act, which would lift the full smoking ban in Bulgaria.
Hasan Hadzhihasan of the Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) said that they would allow smoking in the restaurants and cafeterias which have previously had separate smoking areas, and smoking after 10 PM in the establishments, which don't have such areas.
According to Hadzhihasan, in this way the families with children who want to go to restaurants, bars and cafes, will be protected from the second-hand smoke.
The new amendments would be supported by DPS, the socialists and the nationalists from "Ataka". They will be tabled in the beginning of March.
The previous attempt to lift the total smoking ban was rejected by Parliament in mid-December, when the majority of MPs from all parties voted against.

Some of us already "smoke" in your no-smoking zones. It is called vaping. Not a cigarette, doesn't smell.
About 1/3 the cost of cigarettes. The no-smoking nazis don't even realize that you are enjoying a "smoke",
right next to them. Ha ! Make the switch: it's easy. E-cigarettes, but not a ciggie at all..
If the separated areas have their own separated ventilation systems so non-smokers are not forced to inhale the smoke of others then indeed, it would be sensible. However, that is rarely the case.
In terms of after hours smoking in the same areas that children will otherwise be dining during earlier hours, google "third hand smoke" to find numerous credible studies that demonstrate that this practice still presents problems to children.
