Bulgaria’s Tsvetana Pironkova convincingly defeated American Varvara Lepchenko to reach the quarterfinal of the Sidney International tennis tournament.
Pironkova, ranked 107th, won 6:3, 6:2 on Tuesday.
She will meet Italian Sara Errani in the quarterfinal.
After having to go through qualifying rounds in the Australian capital, the Bulgarian proved she is regaining her form, winning her last five games.
Pironkova is set to return to WTA top 100 next week.
