Fears of an influx of Bulgarian and Romanian immigrants into the United Kingdom as of the beginning of the new year have prompted Labour MPs to count arrivals at Luton Airport, only to see they were mistaken.

Romanians landing at Luton Airport were greeted by Home Affairs Select Committee chairman Keith Vaz on the first day of new rules allowing the migrants to work in the UK, ITV TV channel reported.

He said he saw no evidence of migrants who have "rushed out and bought tickets" because of the lifting of regulations.

In his words most of the people he met already work in the UK and were "coming back after a holiday".

But he also criticised the government for a "lack of robust estimates" of the number of Romanians and Bulgarians expected to arrive in the UK.

Tory MP Mark Reckless accompanied Keith Vaz at Luton Airport, claiming he was concerned that large numbers of Romanians and Bulgarians may come to the UK.

“I'm here this morning because my party - the Conservatives - we made a promise that we would cut immigration from hundreds of thousands to tens of thousands a year.

And my concern is that if we do see large numbers coming from Romania and Bulgaria then that could knock us off that target and the promise we made to the electorate.“

It is about time that these populist M.P.s gave up on these pronouncements of doom and gloom . and looked at the positive impact of the immigration from Bulgaria and Romania .All they are looking for is votes, and keeping thrie seats in parliament, and of course keeping their wonderful exspenses, which they neve would ever inflate ho ho, If any body is going to be on the fiddle it is them.

@Sobleski

Funny you mention Black people since I have personal experiences with them. Black are mostly friendly, peaceful, helpful and welcoming people, very few Black children I knew were racists, however what happened to Black people is that they were damaged by Western European colonizers. Now they have picked up their personality of racism, superiority complexes, imperialist tendencies, glorification of historic crimes, and now they have become anti-White racists. Before Africa was colonized they were just quietly living their primitive (not meant as an insult) lifestyle. Just take a look at how Western Europe is treating Eastern European Bulgaria and Romania, goes to show who taught racism.

Then realizing the obvious fact that they would be unable to conquer the world by power and to slow down and minimize their loses they started the different philosophical and political strategy of cleaning their stained invasive history and “building a good image” by spreading the Greek invented system of democracy - See more at: http://www.rctopshop.com/esky-heli-parts-1

The first aslave traders were blacks and arab muslims!

It was british who put a stop to the slave trade.

The slave continues to this day, operated by muslims, sex slave gangs,
And the enslavement iof women into islam.

The real racists in this world are black people, and anti white left wing cultura

Ahmed nasran…. (and why the turk nickname?!?) Or whoever you may be…. Irrelevant comments and examples you are giving me. Just because you don’t like the present reality it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist!

Listen other than the potential for considerable present or future economic growth China is none of the other things you mentioned and will probably never be. Investing in China will give you significant returns!

But lets see again what you said: “China, the home of democracy, the powerhouse of world economic growth, the bastion of workers rights and the home of high pay for all.”

Well, since we are on the theme Britain we must mention some history and throw some light on the above comments.

After centuries of imperialism, invasion, robberies, murders, assimilation and enslaving which at times reached almost a third of the world map Britain started its decline as an empire. Then realizing the obvious fact that they would be unable to conquer the world by power and to slow down and minimize their loses they started the different philosophical and political strategy of cleaning their stained invasive history and “building a good image” by spreading the Greek invented system of democracy, abolishing slavery, giving equal right to women and etc…..

So they are still continuing to "sing the same song" (which presently is their only option) even though their presence and influence have diminished to an insignificant midget level.

Anyways like I said in the beginning we are off topic here, in my opinion living in Bulgaria and contributing to its economy is way better than being an immigrant in the UK.

Ahmed, we forgive you the botched comment with a note of sarcasm in it. However, not far is the day when people will immigrate to China, Russia and even to North Korea. Who believed that a day will come where the western "freedom" and democracy will look like a totalitarian dictatorship.

George is absolutely right - Bulgarians will not be going to Europe, especially not the UK. No, as George says, all Bulgarians will be emigrating to China, the home of democracy, the powerhouse of world economic growth, the bastion of workers rights and the home of high pay for all.

What a circus…. Everything blown out of proportion.
I will say it again, why would Bulgarians leave heaven and go to this overrated British hell?!? Pay heavy-duty tax rates and waste money on an expensive lifestyle???

Britain is nothing more than a dead dinosaur. An overburdened and over regulated society with an extremely heavy tax system. As most of you probably already know over 90% of Bulgarians own a home and most of those are free and clear with no mortgage!
What are those Bulgarians going to do in Britain, work for minimum wages, live like rats stuck somewhere 10 – 20 people in a basement barely paying for their expensive rents and living realities?!?
It’s crazy rat race lifestyle, cuisine, weather, life affordability and etc. in Britain and that’s why Bulgaria is a paradise compared to it.
I personally rather stay on a single piece of bread and coffee in Bulgaria than go on that miserable British island….

I hope the M.Ps who went to Luton Airport were not getting paid for today as it turned out to be a complete waste of time and effort.
