Medvedev Urges Ukraine to Overcome 'Tectonic Split'
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has called upon Ukraine to overcome what he believes is a “tectonic split” that threatens the existence of the state.
Speaking at a press conference in Moscow, Medvedev branded recent visits of members of the European Commission to a site of mass pro-European Union demonstrations in Kiev as "flagrant interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state."
The Russian Prime Minister’s comments came as Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych held talks with opposition leaders including former boxer Vitali Klitschko.
Pro-EU protesters in Ukraine remain defiant and say they were ready to stay outside in downtown Kiev until Christmas or as long as needed. -
