“Armed” with paper swards and toy “handguns”, the students pretended to stage an attack of the Parliament.

Several thousand protesters, including students, have now gathered around the country’s main legislative assembly building.

The rally is growing in size, according to reporters, with some of the unionists who staged a protest earlier on Wednesday deciding to join it.

Wednesday marks the 160th straight day of anti-government rallies in Bulgaria.
