The prices of train tickets in Bulgaria will be increased by 5-6% starting 2014, revealed the Transport Minister.

Some of the routes will operate under the same prices, while express trains will cost with up to 8% higher, said Danail Papazov for bTV.

The Transport Minister added that for the time being no job cuts are envisioned for Bulgarian State Railways (BDZ) staff.

The management of BDZ is currently holding talks with representatives of the trade unions to discuss the options for increasing staff wages. It is most likely that their increase will also be around 5-6% on average.
