Daniel Mitov Ready for Foreign Minister Role Amid Geopolitical Test in Bulgaria
Daniel Mitov, Deputy Chairman of GERB, has expressed his readiness to assume the position of Acting Foreign Minister
GERB MP Desislava Atanasova has vowed to refer to the Chief Prosecutor the threat of Prime Minister Oresharski to sack public officials who attend anti-government rallies.
Atanasova, former Health Minister and an MP of center-right party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria), claimed Saturday that "the face of hatred is organizing a rally in support of the government in Sofia."
On Saturday, there were pro-government and anti-government rallies in Sofia and Plovdiv.
The rally of the supporters of the ruling coalition of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS) in Sofia was attended by Plamen Oresharski.
On Friday, Oresharski declared that public officials who attended protests and expressed their political affiliation would be sacked.
He made clear that the authorities were collecting data about protesting government officials.
"We strive to select the best employees, but we are probably not always successful, in order to make sure that the administration is free of politically biased persons," he stated.
