Bulgaria: Sofia Subway CEO Distances Himself from Free Newspaper Scandal “Newspaper for the Subway”, whose editions do not specify an editorial team or a publisher, is almost completely identical with ultranationalist party Ataka’s mouthpiece. Image by Facebook

Bulgarian capital Sofia’s subway CEO Stoyan Bratoev has stated he has “nothing to do” with the far-right partisan mouthpiece that was distributed as a “free newspaper.”

The distribution of “Paper for the Subway”, which turned out to be the mouthpiece of ultranationalist party Ataka (Attack), has been stopped.

“We have nothing to do with the distribution of political propaganda in the subway,” Bratoev told Nova TV on Thursday.

“Everything in this case is over, and all contracts have been ended. Such things cannot be distributed in the subway,” he said.

On Wednesday, citizens voiced their discontent over the free newspaper and demanded Bratoev’s resignation.
