Bulgaria Named World's 8th Most Heavily Policed Country

Bulgaria has the world’s eighth largest per capita level of police personnel, according to a Bloomberg ranking.

Russia tops the ranking with 564.6 police officers per 100 000 population, followed by Turkey (474.8) and Italy (467.2).

Bulgaria has 398.1 police officers per 100 000 people.

Data are the average figures of the three most recently available years for each country.
Only countries with a population of at least 5 million people have been ranked.
