Bulgaria's Ex-PM Says No-Confidence Vote Is over 'Investment Ministry'
Bulgaria’s newly established Ministry of Investment Planning is the first target of the no-confidence vote that the opposition GERB party envisages, former Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov announced.
Speaking to journalists during a parliamentary sitting on Wednesday, Borisov confirmed a vote of no-confidence will be in order on Thursday directing at several policy areas, starting with the Investment Planning Ministry.
“There are seven or eight fields upon which a motion of no-confidence can be made…We consider starting with the Investment Planning Minisry as such ministry does not really operate. ” Borisov said.
According to the ex-PM the ruling of Oresharski cabinet is defined by unfounded spending of state finds, inadequate appointments and too little effective work done, leading to Oresharski’s international isolation.
Bulgaria’s formerly ruling center-right GERB party stated its intentions earlier this week to make a motion on Thursday for a no-confidence vote against current Socialist-led cabinet of PM Plamen Oresharski.
The party, which was forced to resign in February in the wake of mass protests, first made clear its plans to seek no-confidence vote against the government in July.
The move was meant as a gesture of support for the ongoing mass protests in the country.
The current series of anti-government protests in Bulgaria was triggered by the scandalous appointment of controversial media mogul Delyan Peevski as Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) on June 14.
Although the appointment was revoked, Bulgarians went on to demand that the cabinet of PM Plamen Oresharski resign collectively.
