US Request Assad Step Down as Part of Syria Settlement
The US requires a stepping down of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad in addition to the Syrian government's handing over of chemical weapons.
This was revealed by US State Department spokesperson Marie Harf as Secretary of State John Kerry held talks with Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov on the plan for Syria.
"We've been clear for a long time that Assad needs to go. Our end goal has not changed: he has lost credibility and can no longer be part of a Syrian future," said Harf.
The spokesperson was resolute that, to US eyes, signing the Chemical Weapons Convention could not substitute handing over Syria's chemical arsenal, and the latter could not substitute a set down by Assad.
At the same time, Harf ruled out that chemical weapons could have been used by any other party in the Syrian civil war than the regular army fighting, which is controlled by the President.
"In terms of the allegation that the opposition used chemical weapons, it would, as we've said repeatedly, be preposterous for anyone to suggest that anyone other than the Assad regime is responsible for the August 21st chemical weapons attack," said the Stated Department spokesperson.

We should not welcome the Syrian refugees. These people are hostile to our culture and civilization. One day they will destabilize us. Why they do not stay in Iran and Turkey. Why they do not move towards Azerbaijan or Egypt or Saudi Arabia or other Muslim country????. Turkey has better options to shelter them. Turkey has much better economy. Why the Turks push them towards Europe?????
I am sure they are actively pushing them towards Europe. This is part of the relentless biological invasion.
And finally why USA played in the hands of the Saudis and helped so much in destabilizing the secular state of Syria. Saudis that killed so many Americans on the 11 of September. USA is helping their cause….why??? Without external help this religiously inspired rebellion would have been suppressed very fast.
I think it's reasonable to ask Assad to resign after the UN inspectors upcoming report confirms he was responsible for gassing his own people. Any world leader who uses chemical weapons against their own people has lost legitimacy to govern.
I'm sure Russia will be able to negotiate with Assad and get him to resign and name someone in his circle to power and he can get asylum in Russia. The Russians have enormous influence in Syria, similar to the influence the Americans exercise over Israel or Saudi.
The Assad family has been very brutal. Bashar's father, Hafez destroyed a complete city called Hama back in the 1980s and killed about 40,000 who were rebelling against his dictatorship. His son - who many thought was weak or incompetent- has proven to be just as brutal as his father. I think it's time for new blood to run the country and perhaps Russia will be more forceful in demanding at least the very basic human rights from a new government - something they haven't done at all with Bashir.
Great! When Assad signs chemical weapons Convention, when the possibility of peace solution appears on the horizon...ooh, yeah, the peace solution with those Russians' participation!? The obvious humilation for USA leaders. Unbearable, inadmissible, impossible....

SANITY, yeah.....unaffordable luxury.
