The possible US military intervention will not stop the Syrian government from fighting insurgents, stated Syria's President Bashar Al-Assad.

"The threat of American aggression against Syria will never foce Damascus to give up its foundational principles and cocntinue the struggle against terrorists," said Assad, as quoted by RIA Novosti.

The embattled Syrian president added that those terrorists are being aided by "many countries from the region and the West, under the leadership of the US."

Assad was resolute that his country is able to oppose any external aggression.

"With her resolute people and brave army, Syria can repel any attack from the outside," said the president, as quoted by ITAR-TASS.

Assad stated that his government will continue its fight to vanquish rebels and restore stability in the country.
