Germany on Edge over Feared Influx of Bulgarian, Romanian Migrants
Germany is in the grips of fears of an increasing influx of Bulgarian and Romanian migrants who cause troubles to locals and authorities, local media reports.
Bulgarian and Romanian migrants fleeing their poorer home countries and heading towards one of the most economically stable EU members - Germany - deteriorate living conditions of the local residents making noise, rubbish and crimes, reported several German newspapers.
The reports points out that the poorest citizens of Bulgaria and Romania, mostly ethnic Roma, settle down in Germany where they live in complete misery, stunning local residents and authorities.
“The European Union enlargement to the east happened due to geostrategic reasons and labor market policies. But when making that decision, Brussels underestimated the forthcoming problem with the poor immigrants,” Duisburg local authorities told Die Welt.
The media warns that more immigrants are expected to benefit from the social system in Germany as of next year, when all restrictions for access to the labor market are lifted.
Germany’s population has increase by over 196 000 citizens in 2012, mostly due to the coming immigrants, reported the influential Spiegel.
Most of the immigrants coming in Germany are from Eastern European countries - Poland, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary and from Italy, Spain and Greece in Southern Europe.

Komrade Koraly has experienced how things are today, how bad things are today, and we cannot keep blaming Russia for our problems especially since ALL of our problems began when we left the Russian sphere of influence and entered the European sphere of influence. Now unlike some others which only know how to blast the usual CNN or RT propaganda, I know what the real problem of Bulgaria is and that problem is that EVERY single asset from factories, to agricultural land, to ports and harbors to basic utilities such as the electricity and water grids, to public transport and roads, and even natural assets (which didn't have an owner before) such as mountains, rivers, lakes, beaches, coastline is all owned by FOREIGN BILLIONAIRES who are outside the country and only care about their own profit and how they can milk more money out of the Bulgarian people so they can build their new marble/gold bathroom or add a new Ferrari to their collection, whilst the people of Bulgaria suffer. They achieve this whilst giving a paycheck to the Bulgarian Government Mafia which is sh*tty in comparison to what they have. Before 1990 these assets were in the hands of the state, however I am not polarized like you, and I think Bulgaria should work in the interests of the Bulgarian people and not be tied to some partnership with Russia or the EU in which the end result is going against the interests of the Bulgarian people.
Petra - you are welcome to be "ashamed" of what happens in your country but apart from gobbing off on forums what exactly do you DO to improve things there?
If you are indeed concerned about the plight of the tsigani here then why do you feel it is more appropriate to complain about how they are treated in countries which have been afflicted by them to such a degree without offering all of them sanctuary in your own enlightened and civilised homeland? I can assure you that you have nothing to fear from them as Gastarbeiter (just when did a "German" start using "arbeiters" as the plural or are we here too stupid to know the difference?) since there is no danger of our tsigani stealing work from anyone, although they will most certainly steal everything else.
As for Komrade Koraly, he/she/it is no doubt too young to remember just what this country was like when his Russian Товарищи were behind everything that happened here and too stupid to see what happens in other countries nowadays when Putin pretends to be their friend while everyone else treats them like the pariahs they are. If Russia wants something from you then you are fine - until the need is gone or you are in too deep to extricate yourself. Apparently the state of education here is now so bad that Koraly, assuming it is even a Bulgarian, really believes that what happened after WWII was due to being on the "wrong" side and not thanks to the Russian-backed Commies; inviting them back is just what the current load of misfit "Red Garbage" pretending to be a government would love to do - no doubt they have already negotiated their rewards in offshore accounts....
"suffer from your racism" Don't make a generalization about Bulgarians because of two trolls. If we were racist there wouldn't be any Roma in Bulgaria. Roma are the poorer members of society (there are some rich Roma) , that's how things turned out and their isn't much out country can do to help them, our country, which has been impoverished by 2 and a half decades of austerity measures and a corrupt Mafia government partially supported by the EU, which get this wants to take out a new loan, after we just got rid of our old loans and now have the second-lowest debt in the EU. We are a perfect example of how Greece will end up in the future if things carry on the way they are.
"invite a country like Bulgaria to be part of the EU, use it as a Satellite State", I agree Western Europe has been using Bulgaria as a satellite state but not for something as minor as keeping Turks in Bulgaria but to keep Bulgaria out of Russian influence, because we all know the only MAJOR threat to Germany's dominance over Europe is Russia, and if we are in the EU we cannot have good relations with Russia. Russia has been our traditional ally and friend, the only time we went against them in the World Wars (where we were allied with Germany) didn't end well for us in the end, that's why we want to leave the EU, to restore our old relations with Russia but at the same time not becoming tied to them in another EU like we are tied to Germany now.
I can not believe the comments I read. Roma are just as good or bad people as anyone else - the comparison with parasites reminds me of Adolf Hitler's statement about the Jews ... well, he put them folks in the gas chamber, is THAT what you would like to see happen again, Pavlina? You talk about 'responsibility', but the one who stereotypes fellow citizens is actually the one without responsibility. So be civil and recognize this minority as a part of Bulgaria, stand up for your country and offer support! And as a German, I tell you that I am personally ashamed of the attitude my country performs towards Roma and all other Eastern European States. We can not invite a country like Bulgaria to be part of the EU, use it as a Satellite State to keep the Turkish and other 'Gastarbeiters' (read the article from 2 days ago, please) out of Germany and not assure minimum wages and economic and political support to those countries. Of course people want to go where the money is available - who does not ... and Roma, the ones who barely have anything in the first place and suffer from your racism, are the ones who take their exit first. That is why they are in Germany ... I doubt that they are all that happy over there!
