Renowned boxer and Ukrainian opposition politician Vitali Klitschko plans to run for President of his country in 2015, according to the World Boxing Council (WBC).

WBC said on its web-site Wednesday that Klitschko, 42, "wants to keep participating in politics and run for the presidency" in 2015.

Klitschko has told WBC that boxing had greatly helped prepare him for this politics due to the strategy, work, discipline, dedication honesty and team work ethics, which are essential to be successful.

He added that the most important task was to improve the lives of Ukrainians through a more efficient economy, modernization, more jobs and better opportunities for the future, Interfax informs.

Klitschko was elected to parliament last autumn as part of the pro-Western party Udar ("Punch").
