Failure to overcome a presiential veto on a revision of Bulgaria's state budget will mean the fall of PM Plamen Oresharski, according to Bulgarian Parliament former speaker Tsetska Tsacheva.
According to Tsacheva, who spoke for the Bulgarian National Radio Sunday, ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party and Movement for Rights and Freedoms are worried whether they will get enough votes to overcome the veto.
The former speaker, who is currently MP from former ruling GERB party, said that this worry is the reason behind current speaker Mihail Mikov's reluctance to specify the date on which he will re-convene parliament to discuss the veto.
"If enough votes are not gathered to overthrow the veto, the resignation of cabinet will become a fact," commented Tsacheva.
The ruling Bulgarian Socialist Party and Movement for Rights and Freedomshave exactly 120 MPs out of 240.
But to overcome a presidential veto, an absolute majority of at least 121 MPs is needed.
The Socialists and the Movement will thus have to rely on votes by nationalists Ataka, or opposition GERB, which latter case is unlikely.
Tsacheva assured that there will be a quorum for the emergency sitting, as GERB MPs, who form the largest parliamentary group, will be present.
She also added that should the ruling parties manage to reject the veto, GERB is likely to table a no confidence vote early September.
