Bulgarian Foreign Minister Kristian Vigenin has officially declared his support to the Western Balkan country Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way towards the European Union.
In a meeting with the President of the Parliament of the Republic of Srpska, Igor Radojicic, who is on a visit to Bulgaria, Kristian Vigenin stressed on the importance of the relations between countries of Southeastern Europe and reintegrated his support to the efforts of Bosnia and Herzegovina towards European integration.
"The more we co-operate and show understanding in regard to the needs for reforms, the easier it will achieve the goals that we set - progress in the European integration of the region, strengthening stability and creating conditions for attracting investments," the Bulgarian Foreign Minister said.
In a statement Igor Radojicic emphasized the actions being taken by the Republika Srpska towards the country's European integration including the necessary constitutional changes and the development of the so-called “Co-ordinating Mechanism”.
Kristian Vigenin and Igor Radojicic both agreed on the importance of active regional co-operation and the need to strengthen economic relations.
Bosnia and Herzegovina was identified as a potential candidate for EU membership during the Thessaloniki European Council summit in June 2003.
