A new heat wave setting in in Bulgaria has broken the temperature record in Ahtopol on the southern part of Bulgaria's Black Sea coast.

Although the local record has been bettered, Ahtopol's Saturday high of 30 degrees Centigrade was well below the temperatures registered inland.

Wether is staying generally fresher and cooler along the Black Sea coast, with the lowest high measured in Bulgaria Saturday at the northern Kaliakra Cape, 28 degrees C.

Varna and Shabla, also in the northern section of Bulgaria's Black Sea coast, boasted the gentle 29 C, reports the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.

Things were not so refershing in Bulgaria's north- and south-west, with the highest temperature Saturday measured in Lom along the Danube River, 38 C.

Montana, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Sandanski and Vidin followed with 36 C.
