Turkish border authorities have seized more than 717.694 kg of heroin on the Hamzabeili - Lesovo checkpoint on the Bulgarian- Turkish border, according to a Macedonian news website.

The drugs were discovered hidden in a truck loaded with washing machines that was driven by a Croatian citizen.

The bus driver has been detained.

The truck’s route started from Istanbul and it was supposed to go through Bulgaria to reach Bosnia and Herzegovina, reported Macedonian electronic edition Kurir. 

The amount of nearly 717 kg of heroin is the biggest amount of drugs that has ever been seized on any Turkish crossing border point until now, reported the Macedonian press.
