Thousands of Bulgarians have taken once again to the streets of the capital Sofia to demand the resignation of the country's government for a 38th day in a row.
The initial attendance at the traditional start at 6:30 pm was low, but also traditionally, as the evening advances, more and more are streaming to Independence square in front of the Council of Ministers building.
It is reported that a large group of foreign visitors is among the crowd, observing with great interest. There is also a troupe of musicians with drums, bagpipes and tambourines and a group of people on bikes.
Many are waiving the national flag, the flag of the EU, and holding banners reading "Mafia out of Parliament" and "You Should Have Been Gone by Now," among a number of others. People are blowing whistles, hissing, and shouting "resignation."
There is very large riot police presence.
The square and the "Tsar Liberator" boulevard leading to the Parliament are blocked for traffic.
A much smaller rally in support of the cabinet Oresharski was held earlier for the 25th day in the park of the National Palace of Culture. 100 people, once again led by rapper Misho Shamara (Big Sha), attended.
The series of the peaceful, but mass and persisting anti-government protests in Bulgaria was triggered by the scandalous appointment of media mogul Delyan Peevski as Chair of the State Agency for National Security (DANS).
Although the appointment was revoked, the people went on to demand that the Socialist-endorsed cabinet of Prime Minister, Plamen Oresharski, resign collectively over ties with oligarchs.
Despite the protests, the Bulgarian Parliament elected Friday another controversial individual, Vladimir Pisanchev, to lead DANS.
