Svetlana Angelova, MP of the center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, party, has suggested that Parliament should approve the criminalization of attacks on social workers and labor inspectors.

Speaking Monday in the Danube city of Ruse, Angelova noted that the amendments to the Penal Code stipulating the criminalization of assaults on medical doctors and teachers were about to pass second reading in Parliament.

"I believe that my proposal will be backed both by the Minister of Labor and Social Policy and by all MPs" Angelova said, as cited by mediapool.bg.

Desislava Atanasova, GERB MP and former Health Minister, commented that journalists were also supposed to receive the same level of protection.

"I believe that the parliamentary group of GERB would back such a decision," she stated.
