Bulgaria: Bulgarian Police Chief Secretary Set to Quit Bulgaria's Chief Secretary of the Interior, Kalin Georgiev, photo by BGNES

Bulgaria's Chief Secretary of the Interior, Kalin Georgiev, has confirmed that he is about to resign, according to newly sworn-in Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev.

Kalin Georgiev has declared his intention to leave the system. He told me that in a conversation,” Yovchev told TV7 on Thursday.

Yovchev praised Georgiev for his skills and intelligence, admitting that he is yet to find a replacement for the retiring official.

Georgiev has been Chief Secretary of the Interior since 2009.

The new Interior Minister also announced that there will be “structural and personnel changes”in the Ministy. He explained that officials lacking competence and loyalty will be sacked.
