Sergey Stanishev, leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, presented Wednesday in Parliament the nomination of Plamen Oresharski for Prime Minister.

Bulgaria's Parliament is to vote Wednesday on the government formed with the mandate of the socialist party.

"Bulgarian citizens want governance, not a dog and pony show or a dictatorship," Stanishev stated.

"Bulgarian citizens want to see a government consisting of people to whom power is a means of achieving concrete goals, not the sole purpose of their life or a way of securing personal gains or ambitions" the socialist leader commented.

He explained that Bulgarians expected ministers with proven track records, qualifications and personal skills, who would be capable of representing Bulgaria in the most competent and positive way.

He further said that it was crucial to define Bulgarians' expectations about the country's political rulers.

Stanishev argued that the May 12 snap elections had shown that Bulgarians wanted a change, not more of what they had been given during the 4 years in office of the center-right GERB government.

"People want a new functional government with a clear program which offers prospects for the country, the economy, and the life of each and every Bulgarian," the socialist leader added.
