Luckily and for the first time Bulgaria’s parliament will not be dominated by a messiah, the ethnic Turks leader declared from the rostrum on Tuesday.
"Voters kicked out the center-right GERB party of Boyko Borisov, but refused to give the power to one particular party. Bulgarians voted on May 12 for democracy and rule of law. These are the true winners,” Lyutvi Mestan, leader of Bulgarian liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms, as the new parliament convened for its first session.
“Bulgaria’s new parliament has one top priority – to lead the country out of the crisis, brought on by the government of Boyko Borisov. The first step is the formation of new government,” Mestan said.
He reiterated that none of the other three parties in Parliament will back GERB as it scrambles to form a minority government, making sure it will fail to do so and the mandate is handed to the second-ranked Socialist party.
Bulgaria’s new parliament convened on May 21, paving the way for former Premier Boyko Borissov to form a minority Cabinet after his Gerb party won early elections last weekend.
