Bulgarian Socialist Party leader Sergey Stanishev cast a ballot in the country’s general election on Sunday.
Stanishev told reporters that he voted for “change” and that he wanted his children “to remain in Bulgaria.”
“Today is the most important day in a democracy, because everything is in the hands of the people,” he said.
The left-wing leader declared that his BSP would do “everything possible” to prevent voting fraud on behalf of the party’s main enemies.
Bulgarians are voting in a tight snap election in which no party is expected to win a majority to form a government. Recent opinion polls indicate that the center-right GERB and the Bulgarian Socialist Party are nearly tied.
