Bulgaria Bans Sales of Alcohol on Election Day

The sale and serving of alcoholic beverages has been banned on Election Day in Bulgaria.

Separate orders banning the sale and serving of alcohol have been issued by municipal authorities.

For the capital Sofia, the ban is effective from 6 am to 8 pm. The sale of beer will be allowed in the capital for the entire Election Day.

Wholesale alcohol deals will be also permitted in Sofia.

The ban will be effective from 6 am to 9 pm in Bulgaria’s second largest city of Plovdiv. It does not pertain to restaurants where weddings, baptisms, funerals and other similar events have been planned in advance.
