6.2-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Afghanistan

An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit Afghanistan Wednesday, according to reports of the Pakistan Met department.

The US Geological Survey estimated the magnitude of the quake as 5.7 on the Richter scale.

The quake hit at 09:25 GMT and was centered in southeastern Afghanistan at a depth of 70 kilometers.

Strong tremors were felt in the capital Kabul and Islamabad and neighboring Pakistan.

The jolt was also felt in North India.

There were no initial reports of any damages.
