Bulgarian-Romanian Business Forum Opens in Sofia

A Bulgarian-Rumanian business forum organized by the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry will start Thursday morning in Sofia.

The event will be attended by Bucharest Mayor Sorin Oprescu, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, and the CEO of the InvestBulgaria Agency Borislav Stefanov.

The forum will deal with computer systems, technologies and communications, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Television (BNT).

The agenda includes topics related to security systems, medical equipment and the construction of electrical equipment and installations.

Representatives of Romanian and Bulgarian businesses will discuss opportunities for cooperation in the production of trains and railroad cars, salt, and pharmaceuticals.

Romania is a traditional trade partner of Bulgaria and the trade turnover between the two countries amounts to EUR 3.5 B a year.

Bulgaria's main export goods to Romania are rebar, wheat, tractors, pharmaceuticals, flat-rolled products of iron and sugar.

Bulgaria's main import goods from Romania are petroleum products, copper waste and scrap, petroleum gas and gaseous hydrocarbons.
