Ninety percent of vegetables on the Bulgarian market are imported while livestock breeding is ruined, despite the demand abroad for its products.

The conclusion was made Friday by caretaker Agriculture Minister, Ivan Stankov, speaking for bTV.

Stankov said that only grain growing and production were relatively stable.

He listed as top priorities maintaining the stable grain production, and advancing dairy and meat farming, gardening, small farms, and eco farming.

According to Stankov, Bulgaria has been able to protect its interests at the sitting of the EU Council of Agriculture Ministers, where he had been present, as it achieved keeping the payments per square meter until 2020 and the assistance for small farms and eco farms.

In addition, Bulgaria would be able to transfer 25% of the funds from the Program for Development of Rural Areas to measures which directly support farming production.
