In January 2013, Bulgarians abroad have wired to their homeland twice more funds than the foreign direct investments, according to flash estimates released by the Bulgarian Central Bank, BNB.
In January 2013, Bulgarian emigrants have sent to relatives and friends EUR 59 M, compared to EUR 31.4 M (0.1% of GDP) from foreign direct investments.
The above amount is strikingly down (by EUR 295.1 M, a difference close to 90%), compared to the increase of EUR 326.5 M (0.8% of the Gross Domestic Product, GDP), for January 2012.
