Bulgaria to Hold International Audit of Energy Sector

The Bulgarian government will within 10 days appoint an international auditor to review the country's energy sector, stated caretaker Minister of Regional Development Ekaterina Zaharieva.
"We need a full financial analysis of everyone in the energy sector. We will work in full cooperation with the European Commissions, so that no doubts be thrown on the final report," said Zaharieva.
The minister added that this would bring full transparency in the sector, something requested by numerous protesters in Bulgaria in the past weeks.
Zaharieva joined Minister of Economy and Energy Asen Vasilev, who in a separate interview said that on the basis of this analysis, the government will think about how prices of energy in Bulgaria could be reduced.
Both Zaharieva and Vasilev stated that energy will be a top priority of the caretaker government of Bulgarian PM Marin Raykov.
According to Zaharieva, cabinet can work for developing more efficient regulation of the energy sector, which can be passed by the next parliament after the May early elections.
