Blasting Winds Calm Down in Bulgaria's Gabrovo Region

Send to KindleThe emergency situation imposed on Gabrovo municipality over excessively high winds is expected to be lifted Saturday, said mayor Tanya Hristova.
One person was killed by a collapsing scaffold in the central Bulgarian city of Gabrovo, as high winds swept in Thursday.
Another has perished falling from his roof, while he was trying to mend it.
The local hospital, as well as other buildings were significantly damaged by the gusts.
Emergency continued through Friday, as strong winds continued.
The alert is expected to be extended for nearby municipalities of Dryanovo and Tryavna, said Hristova.
Over 100 villages in Gabrovo region have been left without power supply, with power lines broken by the winds.
