Bulgaria: UK Petition against Bulgarians, Romanians Gains Steam

Over 100 000 Britons have urged Prime Minister David Cameron to extend labor market restrictions for Romanian and Bulgarian workers beyond January 1, 2014.

The e-petition for Downing Street was receiving up to 1,000 signatures an hour on Thursday, according to the Daily Star.

According to the British tabloid, "experts predict that 350,000 people will head to the UK when work restrictions for the two countries are lifted next year."

The petition, which so far has 115,000 supporters, enough to trigger a House of Commons debate, calls for those barriers to be extended for a further five years.

The requested move, however, is virtually impossible.

January 1, 2014, is the expiration date of the seven-year transition period after Bulgaria and Romania's EU accession, in which the other EU member states could limit Bulgarians and Romanians' access to their labor markets.

No EU member state can unilaterally extend the existing labor market restrictions for Bulgarians and Romanians beyond the end of 2013.

Controversial claims have been made by a number of British tabloids and politicians that the UK should brace for a massive"influx" of Bulgarian and Romanian migrants after the end of 2013. It has been claimed that lifting the restriction would "put pressure" on housing, infrastructure, schools, and heath care.

The official stance of the UK government is that the labor restrictions for Bulgarians and Romanians will be lifted from January 1, 2014.

Paul, the EU rules are completely reciprocal, that means once restrictions fall you will receive the same LEGALLY ESTABLISHED treatment in BG as we the bulgarians would receive in Britain.
Now the math above is flawed and has been constantly portrayed wrongly in the tabloids to exploit the lack of simple arithmetic capacities in the british and EU low class population that goes to vote on such petitions. While it is TECHNICALLY possible for about 350'000 gypsies in total from BG and RO to decide and make a trip and profit from social security systems, it is absolutely impossible to force them to go exclusively direction Britain. If on average they spread equally between Germany, France, Britain, Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Austria, Finland and possibly Swiss. Than 350'000 divided by 10 although should be by 11, we get to a small 35'000. Those will be spread by at least 2-3 years because gipsies need to hear from others that the scheme works satisfactory and than prepare for the trip. That all takes time and can easily extend to 5 years. Now divided by 5 we get to a result of 7000 gypsies for entire Britain per year. First of all such a tiny number won't be noticed let alone felt as a burden to the social security system. And second of all it should give you a rough idea of what we have been going through for the past 60, or more years with a burden of hundreds of thousands of gipsies. Also how easy it is to integrate a mass of people that cares not for education, not for work and only thinks of pillaging and multiplying like cockroaches.
So Brits should quit whining on petitions like spoiled brats. There are worst things in the world that we all should fight with united. Shish.. what a preposterous folk you are.

...or "A burnt child dreads the fire" ;-) Look, not immigrants from BG and Ro is the real problem, sure. Those expected one-two dozens of
thouzands per year are nothing but a drop in the already overfilled bucket. Overfilled with Muslims. Britons feel it:"The 2012 edition of the survey shows that Britons are far more strongly opposed to immigration, particularly from Muslim countries, than they have been at any time in recent memory" /source: http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/britain-immigration-seen-as-top-problem/question-3480729/

and:"So why are Britons so anti-immigrant? Simple answer of course and the same reason that almost all European countries are re-thinking their immigration policies: Muslims." Source:

"Hey Brits, the Gypsies are coming."

Very nice Tess NOT.

1) Are you implying that all Bulgarians are gypsies?

2) UK created its own problems with immigrants way before joining the EU. Look at how many Indians, Pakistanis and Middle Eastern people for example, that your governments have allowed in and UK is now over-run with these people who multiply like rabbits. There are whole enclaves of communities in places now that are no go zones for the Brits.

And to you Steve I will tell the same. If the Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian took your jobs, go tell them that in the face. Than DEMAND from your sleazy corrupt government to give you back those jobs and to expel the foreigners, same as the Muslims, Hindu and the others who HAVE CONTRIBUTED ALREADY to "your jobs" loss!!!! DON'T VISIT PROBLEMS CREATED BY OTHERS TO BG AND RO!!!! Were are your syndicates to defend the minimum wages???? Margart cut their wings and put them to dust. Well go complain to Margaret, go on a strike, demand strong syndicates. Push the government, let the fascists come to power. There are so many things a real man can do. Stand for your rights and if it costs the stability of Britain and the well being of the Britons, than be it! Be a MAN not a pity sucker who complains on petitions against those who have not done him any harm.

Stupid, I am pleased you found my remarks inflammatory. Perhaps in the future you will think very carefully about how you talk to a complete stranger.

Regarding your second point. Well, I laughed so much I almost wet myself. Have you actually lived in the UK?, and I don't mean picking strawberries in Kent for six months. These no go areas you describe do not exist. There are however many multicultural communities, containing people from many different parts of the world, generally living quite peacefully. Finally, your conclusion with respect to Asian people, is in many respects blatantly racist. Your comments would be far more interesting if, what you had to say was based on actual observation, rather than merely quoting any old shit you read on the internet.

Madness Everywhere!

Patients at a mental institution in Sofia are watching the evening news. Now and again a man sitting in the first row jumps up, clapping his hands happily and starts saying:“It’s so good I am here, not there! It’s so damn good!”Upon seeing that behavior for yet another night, a doctor tells his colleague:“I think that guy is perfectly ok already, it’s time to release him, don’t you think?”“Yes, definitely,” the other replies. ...read
