Senior Bulgarian government officials have signed a memorandum of cooperation amongst their institutions in implementing Bulgaria's newly adopted Illegal Assets Act.

The signing of the so-called Instructions for Cooperation is a formal act required by the legislation.

Bulgaria's two acting Vice-PMs - Minister of Interior Tsvetan Tsvetanov and FinMin Simeon Djankov - as well as Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov, State Agency for National Security head Konstantin Kazakov, as well as Commission for Establishing of Property Acquired from Criminal Activity chair Plamen Georgiev were the officials who signed the document.

According to Interior Minister Tsvetanov, the signing is an important step in the fight against organized crime in Bulgaria, and is a follow up to a process that has provoked the strong interest of the public.

"As a result of today's event, justice will triumph in Bulgaria," stated Criminal Activities Commission (CEPACA) director Plamen Georgiev.

On his part, Finance Minister Simeon Djankov stated that his ministry had taken all the steps needed to implement the legislation.
