Moldovan Govt Resigns after Losing No-Confidence Vote

World | March 8, 2013, Friday // 16:57

Moldovan Prime Minister Vlad Filat announced his pro-Western government's resignation on Friday, three days after it lost a no-confidence vote.

Tuesday's no-confidence vote was initiated by the opposition Communist Party amid allegations of corruption in the government.

Filat's coalition government was abandoned by two of the parties ahead of the vote.

President Nicolae Timofti now has to propose a new prime minister, who will attempt to form a Cabinet.
