Opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party has requested that parliament impose before being dissolved a moratorium on all binding contracts by the executive until the constitution of a regular government.

Bulgaria's PM Boyko Borisov resigned amidst massive protests on February 20, and Tuesday it became certain that President Rosen Plevneliev will have to appoint a caretaker cabinet and dissolve parliament, after the three largest parliamentary groups chose not to use their government mandate.

"We will call for Parliament to take a decision stopping all executive deals for the resigned cabinet and the coming caretaker government until the formation of a legitimate executive," stated socialist leader Sergey Stanishev at a press event Tuesday.

The socialists have stressed that they have data that the resigned cabinet is currently making disadvantageous decisions in the field of energy in particular, and that those moves are intentfully "designed to ruin the economy."

Socialist MP Yanaki Stoilov further added that BSP is preparing proposals for the extensive involvement of citizens in the oversight of the caretaker government.

The socialists also said that the party will have its lists for the upcoming snap elections, expected to be held May 12, by end of March.
