Send to KindleThe Regional Inspectorate of Environment and Water in the southern city of Smolyan has imposed a fine of BGN 2135 on mining company Gorubso Madan AD for polluting the waters of the Madanska river.
The company, which holds the concession for the Gorubso Madan metal mines, is penalized after the Smolyan-based environmental inspectorate detected water pollution with indissoluble substances, cadmium and zinc, resulting from the functioning of the Krushev dol mine, according to reports of the Focus news agency.
The pollution itself is a result of the increased volume of water as a result of the melting snow and precipitation, which fall in underground water treatment facilities\, according to the inspectorate
The sample of polluted water from the Madanska river was taken on February 12 and the penalty takes effect on that date.
The Smolyan-based environmental inspectorate informs that Gorubso Madan will be issued a statement of administrative offence for the violation.
