The abductors of Lara, the 10-year-old daughter of powerful Bulgarian drug lord Evelin Banev aka Brendo, have been described as three masked gunmen armed with automatic weapons.

The girl was abducted at approximately 7:30 am on Tuesday in the affluent Sofia suburb of Boyana.

The abductors forced her into a BMW X5 vehicle and headed towards the Okolovrastno Shose boulevard.

According to the latest media reports, the girl's bodyguard was shot twice in the back.

Banev was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison last month. He was charged with heading an organized crime gang and money laundering.

Banev is known as Bulgaria's "cocaine king."
