The protest against the political model, unbearable utility bills, and poverty, under the motto "Let's Set the Monopolies on Fire," has started in the capital Sofia.

According to reports of TV7, thousands have already gathered, marching from the Eagles' Bridge intersection to the building of the Parliament. They have obviously changed initial plans for everyone to gather there, since the procession is currently continuing in the direction of the Presidential Office.

The rally is peaceful, without shouts, slogans and provocations. Live footage shows a very large number of people walking with smiles on their faces and waving the Bulgarian national colors. Posters read "Take Our Last Penny, Who Is Going to Pay Then?" "The Pirin Mountain Is in Danger, Let's Act!" and "We Want Normal Life!"

All Bulgarian TV channels meanwhile also aired live the appearance of President, Rosen Plevneliev, in fulfilling his earlier pledge to honor the organizers' invitation to attend the rally.

Guarded personally by the Chief of the National Security Services, NSO, Gen Todor Kodzheykov, Plevneliev stepped on an improvised tribune in an attempt to address the crowd.

He told the demonstrators he wished to thank them for submitting with him their demands and invited their representatives to a meeting at his office, but could not say much due to very laud hissing, booing, and shouts "resignation" and "mafia" forcing him to leave the location.

Nevertheless, as many have already commented, he is the only politician in the country so far, who dared to appear before the disgruntled Bulgarians, despite all political parties attempting to score points from the two-week-long protests.

There is a second gathering place for the rally in Sofia - in front of the building of the Ministry of Economy and Energy.
