Famed French actress and animal rights campaigner Brigitte Bardot will request Russian nationality Friday if plans to euthanize two elephants at a zoo in the French city of Lyon go ahead, it has been announced.
"If those in power have the cowardice and impudence to kill the two elephants Baby and Népal despite all the proposals made by my Foundation ... then I have decided to ask for Russian nationality in order to escape this country which has become nothing but an animal cemetery," Bardot said in a statement Friday, as cited by RIA Novosti.
Bardot has urged French President Francois Hollande to intervene on behalf of the two Indian elephants who are believed to have tuberculosis.
The move comes a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin gave Russian citizenship to French actor Gerard Depardieu, who was angry about French plans to raise taxes.

“MOSCOW, January 4 (RIA Novosti) - Legendary French actor Gerard Depardieu said he is glad to be granted Russian citizenship, adding that he loves Russia and promising to study the Russian language.
“Yes, I have applied for a passport and I am glad my request has been granted,” Depardieu said in a letter to Russian journalists posted on the website of Russian federal TV Channel 1.”

Actually it’s the present and future reality of the changing world. The direction for immigration has shifted towards East. The future belongs to the emerging markets which are not overburdened with debt and heavy taxation. It is not only the shifting economic reality of the global world but also in this particular case Russia happens to be conveniently located, huge rich country with some of the purest nature in the world (not many places have that anymore…).
So for many rich Europeans and Asians (and others) Russia could be a very comfortable and convenient “escape” to peace and tranquility.

100% tax rate you mean, you are only talking about income.
But it is not that, it is the 14% Russia tax that makes the difference together with getting some freedom back and partly escaping the EUSSR.
