Russian Foreign Min to Go to Ukraine over Post-Soviet Customs Bloc

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will visit Kiev on January 13-14 to discuss Ukraine's participation in the Customs Union between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Leonid Kozhara has announced.

Kiev and Moscow are set to intensify their negotiations in the coming months on Ukraine's participation in the post-Soviet customs bloc, Kozhara said, as cited by RIA Novosti.

"In the first months [of this year], discussions will intensify over the formats of Ukraine's participation [in the Customs Union] without joining it," Kozhara said.

Ukraine, which has proclaimed a strategic course for Eurointegration, plans to sign an Association Agreement with the European Union in late 2013.

At the same time, Ukraine has announced its readiness to join some of the Customs Union rules gradually.

Russia has repeatedly offered Ukraine to join the Customs Union, promising cheaper gas supplies in return.

RIA Novosti points out that Ukraine is reluctant to become a full member of the Russia-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union, because such a deal would rule out signing a free trade agreement with the EU, and has suggested cooperating with the union under a 'three plus one' scheme, which would not mean full membership.

Russian Foreign Min to Go to Ukraine over Post-Soviet Customs Bloc
Potentially Russia is a merely immense market for Bulgarian goods. But
who will allow Bulgaria-not to join, no-but even to think, even to "show interest".....Both USA and EU have their "customs unions" (and it is normal, btw), but look at their nervous/idiotic reaction on the absolutely
logical attempts of Ukraine to be closer to Eurasian Union, look at Hillary' histeria about absolutely natural process of regional integration
led by Russia: "We know what the goal is and we are trying to figure out effective ways to slow down or prevent it"...So, "they know" and "they will prevent". Democracy... Yeah, Russia was, is and-judging by USA/EU reaction-will be Enemy. And who will allow Bulgaria to be friends with Enemy? Democracy requires sacrifices, You know. The only consolation: it will never be the Chief Democracies' sacrifices.....

Madness Everywhere!

Patients at a mental institution in Sofia are watching the evening news. Now and again a man sitting in the first row jumps up, clapping his hands happily and starts saying:“It’s so good I am here, not there! It’s so damn good!”Upon seeing that behavior for yet another night, a doctor tells his colleague:“I think that guy is perfectly ok already, it’s time to release him, don’t you think?”“Yes, definitely,” the other replies. ...read
