Unit 6 of Bulgaria's Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, NPP, remains disconnected from the country's electricity power system.

The 1 000-megawatt unit was shut down Tuesday morning, over what was reported by the management as a minor glitch.

The incident happened exactly at 9:24 am local time and did not involve the reactor's nuclear facilities.

No increased radiation rates have been measured at the premises, assured Kozloduy's management.

A component of the control system of Unit 6's turbine generator block has malfunctioned, which activated the unit's automatic protection system that switched it off from the country's energy grid. The resulting failure is in the conventional, non-nuclear part of Unit 6. The Nuclear Regulatory Agency has been notified.

Measures have been undertaken to perform a full analysis of the failure's cause.

Kozloduy NPP's 1000-MW Unit 6 will be connected to the electricity network right after the imminent elimination of the glitch.
